This document is intended to help structure your Interns onboarding process and allow for an easier, and smoother transition into Automata.
You should aim to have your intern and the rest of the team up to speed as quickly and effectively as possible.
Make a copy & fill out the Onboarding Document ahead of your interns start date. This should be used throughout their time at Automata, not only for yourself but also for them to be able to keep them accountable. HR will also be using it during their monthly check ins to make sure they are hitting the key dates and goals.
What we ask 🙏🏼
- The interns have a designated mentor/ manager who can be responsible for the intern throughout their time here, it can also be a great opportunity for employees to gain some experience in a managerial role
- All interns have a defined and mapped out program built before their start date that includes goals, projects and well as the teams they will be integrated into. We want our internship program to be useful for both the individual as well as Automata.
- Please be open to feedback from the team that they join, as well as support them as much as possible throughout the integration. Change is hard and getting interns up to speed during stressful times can be trying, please either direct them to HR or yourself if they need to raise an issue.
Pre-Onboarding 🤔
- Assign the Intern a manager/ mentor to check in with weekly, as well as be responsible for them over the three month period
- Coordinate with IT / HR to ensure laptop, access credentials, and workspace access are ready
- Review and prepare intern’s onboarding plan, including:
- Goals
- What team they will be integrated into
- Main focuses
- Project & tasks
- Primary point(s) of contact
- Block time for 1:1s (weekly or bi-weekly)
