The Company recognises that its employees are its most important asset. If employees are performing the duties of their post at a sub-standard level, then the service which is offered to our clients and customers may be affected. There will also be significant "hidden costs" associated with additional cover and management time which will have a detrimental effect on others attending work.
To deal with a capability issue, we follow a performance improvement plan procedure (PIP) that encourages employees to improve. PIP procedure found here
The aim of this PIP is to enable employee’s experiencing difficulty in achieving the required standards of performance to work closely with their line manager to find ways of improving performance and of eliminating possible causes for the performance.
It's important to understand that not all cases will be the same and that the performance and capability issues may vary. In some cases, there may be circumstances that prevent certain steps from being completed, or the procedure may need to be adapted in order to address the specific situation at hand. Additionally, the severity of the situation may also affect the ability to follow the procedure to the letter. In some cases due to the employee's specific performance issues and employee’s tenure, not all of the steps outlined will be deemed necessary. All issues will be evaluated on a case by case basis.
