Towards Lab infrastructure

FY27 Strategy:

Automata is evolving from a lab automation provider into the infrastructure layer for AI-native laboratories. Our FY27 strategy reflects this shift and is focused on two parallel priorities:

First, strengthening and scaling our core automation business – improving both the scalability and predictability of growth.

Scale will increasingly be driven by product-led deployment step changes and streamlined customer onboarding, while predictability will come from deeper investment in pipeline generation and expansion within our existing customer base.

Second, leaning into our category leadership by building the foundation of next-generation lab infrastructure. This means evolving beyond standalone automation workcells toward fully orchestrated, software-defined laboratories and autonomous lab environments – where experimentation, data, and decision-making are tightly integrated.

Engine 1 (core business): $28M Recognised Revenue

Engine 2 (new bets): Deploy 2 Autonomous Labs

ENGINE 1 (CORE BUSINESS)

<aside> 1 BECOME THE GO-TO PRODUCT FOR SELF-SERVE CUSTOMERS

We want LINQ to become the primary interface for designing, running, and scaling lab workflows, evolving into a stable, easy-to-use product with market and competitor feature parity. Beyond parity, LINQ will deliver a fundamentally better way to automate labs through an open, software-defined, and AI-native architecture, enabling intent-driven automation and self-serve functionality.

<aside> 2 GROWTH ON REPEAT

We want to evolve from one-off “land” wins to a disciplined land-and-expand motion that reliably grows account value over time. Each initial deployment should establish a potential foundation for expanding our footprint within a customer. This requires building repeatable commercial motions, resilient tooling and processes and product offerings that can scale within existing accounts.

<aside> 3 SCALABLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

We are moving from a delivery model characterised by long deployments and high operational overhead to one where systems are deployed faster, stabilise quickly after go-live with a short time from science to solution, and require significantly less ongoing CX effort. This means reducing FAT and SAT timelines, lowering deployment costs, and building the processes, tooling, and operating model required to support a rapidly growing install base. It also includes enabling new delivery modes such as software-only deployments and large orchestration projects.

This shift is enabled by migrating customers to the new generation of the LINQ platform and by evolving our hardware catalogue, supply chain, and CX operating model to support faster and more repeatable deployments.

A validated self-serve deployment model is established, enabling customers (and partners) to deploy and expand systems with minimal CX involvement.

ENGINE 2 (NEW BETS)

<aside> 3 AUTONOMOUS LABS

We want to position Automata as the infrastructure for autonomous labs, defining what this category looks like in practice and building early lighthouse deployments that prove the model. This starts with building the prompt to protocol and backend of an autonomous lab.
