Level 1 - Software Engineer I - Contributor

Job purpose  

Task-based focus with a big emphasis on learning and development.

You’re at the start of your career so you’ll receive plenty of support from your team but you’re expected to take lots of initiative to collaborate, ask questions, and learn as much as possible.

The suggested time at this level is 1-2 years.

Ownership and impact 

• Delivers small tightly defined work to a deadline
• Supports their team with software development and testing activities
• Independently resolves challenges of low complexity
• Writes well-tested code and documentation in line with our engineering principles
• Demonstrates understanding of common Software Engineering concepts
• Suggests alternative solutions to small customer problems based on available info
• Contributes to process and technology improvement
• Does small code refactoring across the code base
• Works to develop their usage of tooling and systems, including their development environment, source control, and internal tooling
